Tuesday's close

Indices split, trading stayed concentrated

Signal

The all-share index rose slightly, while the domestic index edged lower. Three companies carried 96.6% of trading value.

Why it matters

DSEI 4,696.11 (+0.13%); TSI 10,438.46 (-0.08%). NMB, VODA and CRDB carried 96.6% of verified turnover.

What to watch

The next official close will show whether trading value spreads across more companies.

Trading distribution

Three companies carried 96.6%

Signal

NMB, VODA and CRDB supplied nearly all of Tuesday's share trading value.

Why it matters

The three companies carried TZS 16.29 billion of the TZS 16.86 billion verified total. The two indices therefore did not describe equally broad activity.

What to watch

The next official table will show whether trading value spreads across more companies.

Exchange rate

A reference rate, not a customer quote

Signal

The official shilling reference rate was TZS 2,641.2694 per US dollar.

Why it matters

The 16 September BoT mean was provisional. A bank or mobile-money provider's rate and fees can differ.

What to watch

The next finalized BoT record will show whether this provisional observation was revised.

Uranium exploration

Six licences entered a conditional deal

Signal

Bradda Head Lithium announced a conditional US$1.8 million agreement to acquire six Tanzanian uranium licences.

Why it matters

US$1.0 million is due at completion and US$0.8 million depends on later milestones. This is exploration capital, not an operating mine.

What to watch

Mining Commission consent, completion and a separately funded exploration programme.
