Ports, rail & logistics: is the corridor becoming an operating system?

The gateway is handling more cargo while new rail and dry-port links enter operation. The evidence is useful only when calendar years, fiscal years, construction progress and actual throughput remain visibly separate.

Reading the evidence without outrunning it

Gateway

Port throughput expanded in the detailed record.

All-port cargo rose from 16.80 million tonnes in 2018 to 26.48 million in 2023. Current Ministry fiscal-period KPIs are kept separate rather than spliced into that series.

Rail

New capacity must become observed freight.

SGR freight operations and Kwala now have reported operating volumes. Design capacity and construction percentages remain reference fields, not realised throughput.

Control

Conflicting official values stay out.

The 2024 rail point and one Dar container figure remain withheld. Preserving the gap is more informative than manufacturing a false consensus.
