Chapter 06 · Weekly move · Week 27 · 2026 · dated public record

KCP transformation

Holding into a record tape

Three record closes in a row, and the Ghost's answer is to do nothing. Not because nothing happened; plenty did; but because nothing that happened changed what the book should hold. This is the chapter about why "hold" is a decision, made on purpose.

01 · The tape

What the week actually said

The DSEI closed Friday at 4,116.73; a record, and the third in a row (DSE, 3 Jul). The banks did the pulling: CRDB at TSh 2,800 and NMB at TSh 16,440 at the close, both marks reconciled to the verified DSE snapshot. The book rode it without lifting a finger; the hypothetical NAV ended the week at TSh 528.3m, up 4.26% money-weighted since inception on 6 June. Deposits are counted as capital, never as performance.

01 · Drift vs the bands

Nothing to correct

Equities 52.0% (band 30 to 60), fixed income 33.8% (25 to 50), cash 10.4% (5 to 20), gold 3.8% (0 to 8). Mid-band everywhere. A rotation needs a reason; drift is the usual one, and there is none.

02 · The curve

Short end down, long end up

At BoT auction No. 1202 (2 Jul) the 91-day weighted-average yield slipped to 3.45% while the 364-day pushed up to 7.12%; with TZS 323.7bn chasing TZS 89bn on offer. Term is being repriced, not liquidity.

03 · The shilling

Steady ground

USD/TZS around 2,629 at the BoT official rate (3 Jul); stable on the week. No FX pressure forcing a defensive move.

02 · The decision

Why hold; on purpose

Every sleeve sits inside its mandate band with room to spare, so there is no drift to correct. And the temptation the tape offers; adding to the bank winners on their third straight record; is precisely the one the discipline exists to refuse. The Ghost added to NMB last week because the monthly saving needed a home and conviction was already earned; chasing the same name after a record run is a different act with the same ticker. Nothing was bought, nothing was sold, and the book's shape on Monday will be the shape the thesis chose, not the shape the rally suggested.

03 · The week ahead

Watched, not traded

Two prints matter next. The June CPI reading (due around mid-July) tests whether the fuel channel is fading now that oil has settled; that decides how real the thin short-end yield is. And auction No. 1203 tests whether the 364-day holds above 7%. If long yields hold up there, extending the book's duration becomes a genuine, dated thesis worth writing; for a future week, with the reasoning in full. Not this one.

Learning-ledger principle

A record close is a fact about the market, not an instruction to the book.
